Communication Tower Product Overview

Hebei Xinlian Steel Structure Communication Tower Series | Customized to Project Requirements, Delivering Verifiable, Compliant Structures

For overseas operators, system integrators, and EPC contractors, the core risk in procuring communication towers does not lie in the “unit price,” but rather in whether three key aspects are under control: whether the structural design matches on-site wind load conditions; whether the anti-corrosion coating can withstand the long-term challenges of the local environment; and whether the factory-delivered components can be smoothly assembled on-site. Hebei Xinlian Steel Structure Engineering Co., Ltd. offers custom manufacturing of freestanding angle steel towers, three-tube towers, single-tube towers, and guyed towers. Standard specifications range from 6 meters to 40 meters, with the option to extend to taller tower types based on project drawings. Factory documentation is provided with each shipment, and trial assembly is completed prior to shipment.

I. Determine the Tower Type First, Then the Price

The selection of a communication tower is determined by site conditions, not by the price per metric ton listed on a quotation. Single-tube towers have a small footprint and a clean, simple appearance, making them suitable for 5G network expansion in urban and landscape-sensitive areas; however, steel consumption increases significantly when the height exceeds 35 meters. Three-tube towers offer advantages in steel consumption at sites with limited foundation width (≤6 meters) and are suitable for suburban and roadside locations; Angle steel towers (four-corner truss towers) offer the highest rigidity in scenarios with large foundation clearances and high loads, and can accommodate heavy-load platforms and multi-operator sharing requirements; guyed towers are suitable for open sites and temporary or rapid deployment scenarios. Hebei Xinlian’s standard communication tower products are designed to withstand wind loads of 0.35–0.75 kN/m², meet seismic resistance standards of 8 degrees, and have a grounding resistance of ≤10 Ω. More importantly, we do not make vague promises regarding “high wind pressure”—when clients provide the site’s basic wind speed, exposure class, and the wind area of mounted equipment, we issue structural calculation reports based on these specific parameters rather than applying generic drawings.

II. Materials and Corrosion Protection: Using Internationally Verifiable Standards as a Baseline

In overseas procurement, the “traceability” of steel and galvanized coatings deserves greater attention than the technical parameters themselves. The main structure of Hebei Xinlian Communication Towers uses EN 10025-2 S355 series structural steel (S355JR / S355J0 / S355J2), which correspond to the Chinese national standards GB/T 1591-2018 Q355B / Q355C / Q355D, respectively. The impact toughness grade is selected based on the lowest service temperature at the project site (JR for ambient temperatures, J0 for 0°C, and J2 for extremely cold conditions at -20°C and below). If project specifications require the ASTM system, A572 Gr. 50 can be supplied as an equivalent. Each batch of steel is accompanied by an EN 10204 3.1/3.2 rolling certificate specifying yield strength, tensile strength, chemical composition, and impact test results for customs clearance and third-party inspection verification in the importing country.

The corrosion protection process employs continuous hot-dip galvanizing in accordance with the relevant requirements of ISO 1461, ASTM A123, and GB/T 13912-2020. For base materials with a thickness of ≥5 mm, the average zinc coating thickness is ≥86 μm, with a local minimum of ≥70 μm. This thickness provides more than 25 years of corrosion protection under normal outdoor atmospheric conditions; For projects exposed to coastal salt fog, industrial corrosion, or high humidity, the zinc coating thickness can be increased to 100 μm or higher upon customer request, or an additional coating system can be applied. The thickness of the galvanized coating is verified through random batch inspections using a magnetic thickness gauge, and the inspection records are submitted along with the factory documentation.

III. Manufacturing and Quality: Trial Assembly Is a Prerequisite for Controlling Delivery Times

The most common hidden cost in overseas projects is not ocean freight, but work stoppages caused by misaligned hole spacing or component deformation discovered on-site. Hebei Xinlian conducts in-factory trial assembly of communication towers prior to shipment to verify flange hole spacing, component interchangeability, and overall vertical alignment. Only after passing these tests are the components disassembled, numbered, and packaged. This process incurs no additional design costs but shifts the risk of on-site fit issues to the factory for resolution. Tower sections are connected using fully flanged high-strength bolts; on-site welding and drilling are strictly prohibited to preserve the integrity of the galvanized coating. The verticality control target is 1/1500 of the tower height, consistent with mainstream engineering acceptance standards.

IV. Engineering Support and Delivery Documentation

We understand that overseas procurement is not merely about “buying steel.” Hebei Xinlian provides the following support as the project progresses:

  • Structural Calculations and Drawing Development: We prepare structural calculation reports and fabrication drawings based on the site wind loads, load-bearing lists, and local codes (such as TIA-222-G/H or EN 1993) provided by the customer;

  • Factory Documentation Package: EN 10204 rolling certificates, galvanized coating test records, trial assembly records, packing lists, and component marking drawings;

  • Accessory Supply: Anchor bolts, connecting bolts, grounding materials, ladders, and platforms can be supplied as per the drawings;

  • Export Packaging: Seaworthy packaging is provided to meet the requirements for long-distance ocean transport; components are numbered according to installation sequence to reduce on-site sorting time.

V. Recommended Information to Provide When Requesting a Quote

To ensure that the quote and structural proposal are as close to implementation-ready as possible in the first round, we recommend providing the following information when requesting a quote: preferred tower type or site constraints, total height and number of platform levels/mounting requirements, local basic wind speed and exposure class, seismic design category, structural design codes of the target market, corrosion protection grade requirements (standard/coastal/industrial), and whether foundation anchor bolts and accessories are required. The more specific the information provided, the closer our initial response will be to a technical proposal ready for direct project evaluation, rather than a quotation requiring repeated clarification.
